Your Team
The Design System Lead is responsible for owning, managing, and evolving CFS’s digital design system. The Design System Lead will refine and own the digital design system and guide its adoption across teams. The ideal candidate is experienced in end-to-end component design with deep knowledge of atomic design principles, who can both create high-quality, pixel-perfect UI components and define strategic direction.
This role is a 12-month Max Term Agreement.
Your Responsibilities
- Lead the development, and maintenance of a scalable digital design system, including defining its visual language, interaction patterns, and component libraries.
- Build and refine UI components and patterns as needed, serving as a hands-on design expert.
- Maintain a scalable, reusable component library (design tokens, style guides) and ensure all new UI components meet established design standards. Establish governance for consistency, document guidelines and best practices, and manage version control.
- Work closely with Product designers, UI developers, Product managers, and brand teams to implement the design system across projects. Bridge design and development by collaborating with engineers on integrating UI components into code and resolving implementation issues
- Adopt and improve the governance model for how the design system is used and evolved. Manage and mentor the UI designer reporting into this role. Provide guidance, set standards for design work, and foster skill development.
Your Capability and Experience
- Proven outstanding ability in UI design with a strong eye for aesthetics and detail. Proficient in Figma for creating and maintaining design assets
- Hands-on experience building and managing a design system, including creating style guides, component libraries, or design language systems
- Good understanding of front-end development (HTML/CSS/JavaScript) and able to communicate effectively with developers and understand the technical constraints/feasibility of UI components
- Knowledge of UI component libraries or design frameworks (e.g. Hero UI, Material Design, Bootstrap) and how to leverage them or similar resources to accelerate design and development. Strategic mindset to define a long-term design system roadmap and evolve the system over time.
