About the role:
The Director, Office of the Chief Executive (OCE) provides leadership, strategic advice and drives the delivery of key projects and policy initiatives that support the government and Department’s strategic objectives. In this role, you will provide high-level strategic advice, drive the delivery of key projects and policy initiatives, and ensure the Chief Executive and Ministers are supported with timely, high-quality advice and coordination.
As Director, OCE, you will:
- Provide strategic leadership and policy advice to the Chief Executive on government and departmental priorities.
- Lead the coordination and quality assurance of Cabinet, Parliamentary, and Ministerial briefings.
- Drive collaboration across the Department and with key stakeholders to deliver strategic initiatives.
- Represent the Chief Executive in high-level engagements with Ministerial offices, government agencies, and industry.
- Oversee the delivery of strategic projects that align with government objectives and departmental goals.
Key Competencies:
To apply and succeed in the role, you will be a results-driven leader who can demonstrate:
- Proven experience in providing high-level strategic advice and leadership, and managing complex policy and project portfolios.
- Strong political acumen and the ability to navigate sensitive issues with discretion and insight.
- Extensive knowledge of government structures, Cabinet and Parliamentary processes, and public sector governance.
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
- Leadership capability to foster a high-performing, collaborative, and values-driven team culture.
Executive Core Competencies
Within the context of the role responsibilities described above and in the position description, ideally you will be someone who can competitively demonstrate your knowledge, skills and experiences and their suitability against the South Australian Executive Service (SAES) Competency Framework in the context of the essential requirements for this role.

- Desirable:Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline
Special Conditions:
- The role will be offered as full-time (1.0 FTE), for an initial 3-year contract commencing ASAP
- A Satisfactory Department of Human Services Criminal History Check, National Police Check (NPC) and Baseline Vetting clearance will be required prior to employment.
