Title: Disability Support Worker
Job Summary:The Disability Support Worker provides person-centered support to individuals with disabilities, promoting independence, well-being, and quality of life. This role involves assisting with daily living activities, personal care, mobility, communication, and other needs, while adhering to ethical guidelines and legal requirements. Key Responsibilities:
- Personal Care: Assist with personal hygiene, dressing, toileting, and other personal care needs.
- Mobility and Transfers: Support individuals with mobility, transfers, and using assistive devices.
- Communication: Facilitate communication between individuals, family members, and other professionals.
- Daily Living Activities: Assist with meal preparation, shopping, household tasks, and other daily activities.
- Skill Development: Encourage and support the development of new skills and interests.
- Care Planning: Participate in the development and implementation of individual care plans.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of support provided, observations, and any relevant incidents.
- Safety: Ensure a safe and supportive environment for individuals, adhering to safety protocols and procedures.
- Duty of Care: Maintain a duty of care to the individuals you support.
- Reporting: Report any concerns or changes in an individual's condition or behavior to the appropriate personnel.
- Teamwork: Collaborate effectively with other staff members, family members, and other professionals.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Essential:
- Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home & Community, or Disability) And/or Certificate IV in Disability
- First Aid and CPR certification.
- NDIS Workers orientation Module Certificate & Associated NDIS Certifications
- Covid-19 Infection Control Training Certificates
- WWCC (Working with Children Check)
- NDIS Screening Number and/or Police Check certificate
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Ability to follow instructions and adhere to policies and procedures.
- Desirable:
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Knowledge of specific disability types and support needs.
- Ability to administer medications (with appropriate training).
- Experience with behavior support plans.
- Valid driver's license
