A successful candidate must have:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident and friendly attitude.
- Ability to communicate sensitively and appropriately.
- Understanding of safe work practices.
- Previous employment experience in the health/Disability care sector.
- Experience in providing mental health care.
- Ability to work independently and accurately report back to supervisors.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Experience in providing quality services that assist people to maintain their independence, dignity, cultural values and religious beliefs.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Minimum Certificate III in Disability/individual support and / or Certificate III in Home and Community Care
- Mental Health training
- Manual Handling
- Valid First Aid and CPR Certificate
- Valid Police Check
- Driver License
- Reliable motor vehicle (including valid registration and full comprehensive insurance)
Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide culturally appropriate and compassionate support
- Provide assistance to help participants remain living independently
- Assist with community access, in a dignified and safe manner and in accordance with individual care plans
- Assist with self care and personal domestic activities
- Transportation of participants to and from activities and appointments
- Complete allocated tasks, and remain vigilant while doing so
- Monitor participants health and well-being, whilst also contributing to their skill development
