About the Role
Trackworks Design is seeking an experienced Leading Hand / Dozer Operator to join our team working across civil and earthmoving projects in Southeast Queensland, Northern New South Wales, and occasionally beyond. This role involves hands-on operation of plant machinery while also providing leadership on-site, coordinating daily tasks, and ensuring safety and productivity across worksites.
You’ll play a key role in maintaining equipment, guiding team members, and supporting the Operations Manager with on-the-ground coordination and communication.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery including dozers, excavators, and skid steers
- Carry out pre-start checks and basic plant maintenance
- Use GPS and laser technology for accurate operations
- Lead and support team members onsite, ensuring high-quality outcomes
- Assist with planning and daily task coordination
- Maintain a strong safety culture through compliance and leadership
- Perform general labour tasks when required
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in plant and machinery operation in civil or rural earthworks
- Prior experience in a leading hand or site supervisor role highly regarded
- Skilled in using GPS and laser level tools
- Strong mechanical aptitude for basic equipment maintenance
- Effective communication and leadership skills
- Commitment to workplace safety and team collaboration

- White Card (WHS Construction Induction)
- Relevant plant/machinery operating tickets (e.g. dozer, excavator, skid steer)
- Current Driver's Licence
- First Aid certificate (or willingness to obtain)

About the Role
Trackworks Design is on the lookout for experienced Dozer Operators to join our growing civil earthworks team. Working across Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales, you’ll be operating a range of plant equipment—including dozers, excavators, and skid steers, on road, rural, and earthworks projects.
You’ll also play a key role in maintaining equipment, following safety procedures, and occasionally supporting the crew with general labour tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy machinery, including dozers, excavators, and skid steers
- Follow instructions and project specifications to deliver high-quality outcomes
- Use GPS and laser levels to ensure precision and accuracy
- Conduct pre-start checks and perform basic machinery maintenance
- Report any mechanical issues and ensure machinery is operational
- Maintain clear and professional communication with team members, clients, and supervisors
- Support on-site teams during downtime or weather delays through manual labour as needed
- Complete documentation and maintain plant cleanliness
What We’re Looking For
- Experience operating plant machinery in civil or rural earthworks
- Proficiency with GPS and laser leveling tools
- Solid understanding of construction safety standards and equipment care
- Basic mechanical skills for routine maintenance
- Ability to work well in a team and follow clear instructions
