We are seeking a geotechnical drillers offsider.
The position is initially casual/probation for 3 months, then after 6 months the option to become a trainee driller will be discussed along with a full time contract. Please note this is geotech drilling, it's not a FIFO position there is no roster.
The successful applicant will be Perth based as our yard is in Jandakot.
We are looking for a long term employee.
The job will require heavy lifting and repeated manual handling for most of the day. You will be working out in the elements. You'll get wet, muddy, dusty and you'll see some amazing places, learn a lot and travel all over WA.
Between jobs you will be required to work in the yard, cleaning, doing maintenance and other adhoc duties.
MAIN DUTIES
- listen to and follow guidance of the driller
- pre-start of rigs at start of day and clean and maintain rigs at the end of the job
- manual handling to load and unload equipment from vehicles
- setting up and packing down site
- operating of water truck, fill up at standpipe or water source
- use initiative to work independently while the driller does his job.
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
- LR drivers license essential must have as a minimum
- ability to be on your feet and doing manual handling for hours on end
- mechanical aptitude
- ability to work under pressure, and occasionally work unsupervised.
YOU
We need you to be based in Perth and living here now with reliable transport, over the age of 21 also for insurance reasons.
Ideally you will be safety focused, be able to go lengths of time without looking at your phone, you will work well under pressure, in noisy environments with uneven, slippery ground, out in the elements, you will take instruction and constructive criticism on board and learn from the feedback. It's essential that you are fit and strong and fluent in English both verbal and written.
You will be required to do a pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol. Some jobs may require medicals prior to being allowed on site, you must be able to pass these on short notice.
