The position is based in Accor's flagship Canberra hotel, Novotel Canberra, conveniently based in the city centre opposite the light rail. We are a 286-room hotel with 8 conferencing and event facilities hosting all events from Corporate groups to sports teams.
Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Duty Manager to join our team at Novotel Canberra. As a Duty Manager, you will play a crucial role in overseeing daily operations, leading staff, and ensuring exceptional customer service standards are maintained. This part-time position (30 hours per week) offers an exciting opportunity to make a significant impact on our hotel's success. Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee daily operations and ensure smooth running of the Front Office
- Lead, motivate, and manage staff to achieve organisational goals and maintain high performance standards
- Handle customer enquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally and efficiently
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery
- Interpret and generate reports and review daily occupancies to ensure smooth operations
- Implement and enforce company policies, procedures, and safety regulations
- Respond to and manage emergency situations effectively
Qualifications
- 3+ years' experience as a Duty Manager or a similar supervisory role, preferably in hotels
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and inspire teams
- Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a proficiency in conflict resolution
- Outstanding problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Strong organisational and time management skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- Proficient in Microsoft Office with a strong background in Front Office procedures (Opera Cloud experience favourable)
- Qualification in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related field (preferred)
