About the Role:
We are currently seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Earthmoving Plant Operator (General) to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating a variety of heavy machinery to excavate, level, load, and move materials in support of major infrastructure and construction projects. Your expertise will contribute to the successful delivery of civil works, including roads, water infrastructure, and site preparation across varied terrains.
This role is ideal for professionals who are experienced in handling earthmoving plant, possess strong attention to safety, and can work effectively both independently and as part of a site crew.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and position earthmoving plant and equipment according to project requirements and site conditions
- Operate machinery such as excavators, backhoes, loaders, graders, or bulldozers to dig, level, move, and load materials
- Fit, remove, and adjust attachments including buckets, scoops, blades, and rock breakers depending on task requirements
- Follow verbal instructions, technical drawings, and site markers to perform precise excavation or movement operations
- Monitor equipment performance and make real-time control adjustments for speed, pressure, and flow
- Conduct routine pre-start inspections, cleaning, lubrication, and basic mechanical adjustments to ensure safe and efficient operation
- Adhere strictly to workplace health and safety regulations and site procedures at all times
- Coordinate with site supervisors, labourers, and other machine operators to optimise site logistics and minimise downtime
- Maintain logs and report equipment defects or safety concerns promptly
Requirements:
- AQF Certificate II or III in Civil Construction or related field, or at least one year of hands-on experience in a similar role
- Valid high-risk work licence and relevant plant operation tickets (e.g. excavator, loader, bulldozer, etc.)
- Proven experience operating multiple types of earthmoving plant safely and effectively
- Strong knowledge of earthmoving techniques, attachments, and site safety practices
- Ability to interpret site plans and operate machinery in line with markers or technical guidance
- Physically fit with good hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively on large-scale projects
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $70,000.00 – $120,000.00 per year
