About this opportunity

The NACC has a Cloud Environment Manager position available for immediate filling in Canberra. A merit list will be established to fill vacancies arising in the next 18 months.

About the role
We are seeking a qualified and experienced Cloud Environment Manager to lead the management of the NACC’s cloud ICT environment. This position will be accountable for the development of processes to manage operations, assist in technical standards development and assist in architecture development to create and support an operational environment for new and existing services on Azure Cloud Infrastructure.


The successful candidate will work under the general direction of the Chief Information Officer.

Key activities of this position include:

  • Leading a small team to manage and monitor the cloud infrastructure environment.
  • Working with and/or leading multidisciplinary project teams to deploy new capability within the NACC cloud environment.
  • Working with the IT Security Advisor to ensure the security of applications and systems within the ICT environment.
  • Manage the procurement, contract management, and day-to-day management of technical contract resources and service providers.
  • Develop and implement processes to monitor system performance, capacity levels and expenditure to ensure that they meet business needs.
  • Managing the day-to-day operations of application hosting services, including patching and updating software components.
  • Developing and overseeing Service Level Agreement metrics with service providers.
  • Develop and implement processes to measure the effectiveness of cloud services, including usage rates, latency times, and error rates.
  • Contributing to organisational ICT planning.
  • Developing and/or contributing to regular internal and external reporting.
The NACC is a small agency. In addition to these activities, from time to time you may be asked to undertake tasks that are outside your usual span of duties but that are within the range of your capabilities. Eligibility

Employment with the NACC is subject to the following conditions:
  • Citizenship – applicants must be an Australian Citizen.
  • Security clearance – this is a Designated Security Assessment Position. The occupant of this position will be required to undergo and maintain a security clearance to Negative Vetting 1.
  • Suitability assessment - the NACC must be satisfied that successful applicants are of suitable character. They must undergo a rigorous pre-employment suitability screening process that can be intrusive in nature including (but is not limited to) detailed background, character, employment, police and financial checks.
  • Probation - a probation period will apply to a new ongoing engagement in the Australian Public Service.
