Primary objective
Provide high quality support to teachers and administration staff in their use of Northern Territory School of Distance
Education’s learning management system and functionalities. To ensure course design and development aligns with the
requirements outlined in our learning management system manual, and to provide creative and innovative ideas in regard to
course design. To assist and contribute to the school improvement agenda. Ensure professional advice, support and training
is provided in a timely and strategic manner
Context statement
The Northern Territory School of Distance Education (NTSDE) supports and delivers a range of educational services to
students, resident in the Northern Territory or temporarily living interstate or overseas. NTSDE collaborates with home
schools, supporting educators to deliver high quality, innovative and flexible senior secondary online programs. School staff
must be prepared to travel, use advanced online technologies, and work in both online and face-to-face modes.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide learning management system support to teaching staff as the first point of contact for all learning management
system related issues.
2. Plan, implement, and evaluate online course materials in collaboration with teachers.
3. Lead/participate in the LMS Working Group to enhance Moodle and support related projects/upgrades.
4. Manage course maintenance, backups, and resets to ensure continuity and data integrity.
5. Deliver regular professional development on the LMS and integrated tools; develop standards, templates, user guides,
and support materials.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven broad knowledge in learning management systems combined with good ICT support skills.
2. Proven ability to provide ongoing professional development to teachers, to support their effective use of eLearning
technologies in teaching, learning and communication.
3. Demonstrated time management and organisational skills in a fast-evolving virtual learning environment.
4. Strong time management and organisational skills; effective team contributor.
5. Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to liaise with departments and external providers.
Desirable
1. Hands-on experience with Moodle or other LMS platforms
2. Willingness to travel to remote schools, including flying in small aircraft.
