About the OPPORTUNITY:
We have a vacancy for an Electrical Distribution Technician to join the Test & Commissioning (T&C) team on the Hunter Class Frigate Program (HCFP) on a permanent full-time basis. Based at our Osborne Shipyard in Adelaide, you'll contribute to the delivery of cutting-edge naval capability by supporting the Set to Work (STW), testing, commissioning, and maintenance of Electrical Distribution systems.
As a licensed and trade-qualified Electrical Distribution Technician reporting to the Lead Technician, you'll play a key role in distributing power across the ship, working with 115V, 230V, 440V, and 690V systems, transformers, and switchboards. You'll support testing, sequencing and activation activities, safety protocols and contribute to the development of STW procedures, SOPs, and risk documentation.
We offer flexible work options including the ability to work from home two days a week and a 9-day fortnight to help you balance work and life. Domestic mobility support is available for the right candidate.
Key RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform STW, test, commissioning and maintenance of electrical distribution systems
- Collaborate with the Lead Technician to plan and deliver commissioning activities
- Develop and review key documentation, including specifications, test procedures, maintenance instructions, and engineering reports.
- Collaborate with Operations, Quality, and Engineering teams to ensure testing aligns with robust engineering solutions.
- Diagnose faults and solve technical issues.
- Work with contracted suppliers and assist with pre-commissioning activities.
- Ensure all work is compliant with WHS legislation and BAE Systems SHE policies
- Assist the Verification & Acceptance team with inspection and acceptance activities
- Promote safety, continuous improvement, and technical excellence within the team
About YOU:
- 5-10 years of T&C experience working with complex electrical distribution systems
- Experienced with 115V, 230V, 440V and 690V electrical distribution systems
- Minimum Certificate III in Engineering - Electrical (Mandatory)
- Unrestricted Electrical Licence (Mandatory)
- Highly competent with transformers and switchboards
- Demonstrated experience writing STW procedures, risk assessments, and SOPs
- Experience with computer-based commissioning systems
- Strong planning and coordination skills to manage task priorities
- Professional, technically sharp and ability work independently
