About the Role:
As Design Manager, you’ll play a critical role in managing and coordinating the structural design across multiple major high-rise developments. You’ll oversee consultant performance, ensure constructability, and drive cost and program efficiency, all while maintaining the highest standards of compliance and quality.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage delivery and coordination of structural design documentation from external consultants
- Oversee and facilitate collaboration between engineers and architects
- Review consultant designs for compliance with local codes and company construction methodologies
- Identify value engineering opportunities to optimise costs and timelines
- Provide construction-focused technical support, solving complex issues
- Drive conceptual design in DA stages
- Manage tenders for structural subcontracts and review documentation
- Monitor and track design documentation and construction programs
About You:
- Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- 8+ years’ experience in senior engineering or design management roles, ideally with a top-tier developer
- Full-cycle experience on high-rise or mid-rise residential buildings essential
- In-depth understanding of Australian construction practices for multi-storey residential developments
- Strong structural knowledge in RC, PT, precast, and steel construction
- Experienced with engineering software including ETABS, Inducta, RAPT, and RAM Concept
- Adept at managing consultants and working in a fast-paced, high-output team environment
- Clear communicator with strong commercial awareness, especially around cost/time impacts
- Experience with contract management, monthly claims and variation processes
