Odyssey House NSW’s trauma-informed services set us apart as a leader in the support service space for alcohol and other drugs dependency. The Community Programs department is spread across Greater Sydney and the Southern Highlands and alongside our Multicultural, Residential, Parent’s and Children’s, and Medical programs.
Odyssey NSW is seeking an innovative and experienced individual to work as part of a team delivering individual and group treatment as well as care coordination and wrap around support to individuals and families affected by AOD. The AOD Treatment Worker's primary focus is to assist individuals and families dealing with AOD issues and to address the impact of AOD on their relationships.
Case Worker- Family and Friends works within the Families, Carers, and Friends Program to provide specialised support to those people and communities affected by another’s alcohol and other drug (AOD) use. The Case Worker will primarily deliver individual (counselling, case management, information and referral) and group support within the Program guidelines.
Skills and Experiences:
- Relevant VET qualification.
- Or tertiary qualification in relevant field.
- Significant experience supporting persons with AOD support needs, mental health support needs and/or co-existing support needs.
- Experience in group facilitation and group program delivery.
- Demonstrable experience working in team environment to deliver coordinated support.
- Demonstrated experience undertaking brief and comprehensive assessment as well as ongoing assessment of client support needs.
- Experience working within a non-government AOD treatment program.
- Experience in provision of one-to-one support for people with AOD and/or Mental Health support needs.
- Experience in relationship counselling and mediation is highly desirable.
- Computer literacy including understanding of MS Office Suite and use of Client Management Systems.
- Demonstrable communication skills including report writing, case note writing.
- Knowledge of evidence-based treatment, harm minimisation, care coordination and support strategies.
- Hold a current NSW Driver's License.
- Hold or have the ability to obtain a current Criminal History Check and Working With Children clearance for paid employment.
- Unlimited right to live and work in Australia.
