Purpose of Role
The Feedlot Maintenance Assistant is an allrounder that provides hands-on support to the maintenance team in ensuring the continual operation and repair of the feedlot facility.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Working under the direction and supervision of the Feedlot Maintenance Technician, the Feedlot Maintenance Assistant will undertake the following responsibilities in a professional manner:
- Assisting with Construction Projects: support the completion of construction and infrastructure projects by performing labouring tasks and assisting with materials handling and site preparation.
- General Repairs: assist with basic repair work on feedlot buildings, water systems, fencing, troughs, and infrastructure as directed.
- Routine Maintenance: carry out regular cleaning, servicing and maintenance tasks to ensure the feedlot remains operational and compliant.
- Equipment Operation: safely operate tools and machinery required for construction and repair tasks, including performing daily pre-operational checks on machinery.
- Safety and Quality: follow safe work procedures and contribute to maintaining a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
- Record Keeping: accurately record tasks completed and assist with reporting any hazards, repairs or maintenance needs.
- Compliance: maintain compliance with Barmount Feedlot policies and procedures, including but not limited to quality assurance, workplace health and safety, animal welfare and environmental obligations.
- Assist with general farm related duties and incidental tasks as required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Proven experience in constructions, maintenance or a related field.
- Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces.
- Ability to identify problems and solve them in a timely manner.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment effectively.
- Ability to organise and prioritise tasks and meet deadlines and targets, whilst working under pressure.
- High level of initiative and attention to detail.
