About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Field Officer EBMP Identified

to work as part of the management team and contribute towards the protection life property, conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

This is an Aboriginal Identified role where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977). 

 

As part of the Bushfire and Management Program (BMP) field team, the role is primarily involved in bushfire fuel reduction activities, by both mechanical means and prescribed fire and, during periods of high bushfire activity, will be required to participate in bushfire suppression or other bushfire response functions. The role also participates in advanced firefighting duties.

 

 

About You

 

The successful applicant will have experience and have a passion for outdoor field work, the safe use and basic maintenance of petrol-powered equipment such as brush cutters, ride on mowers and chainsaws. The role is based in Anna Bay or Gloucester, however the works program covers a large area and in various vegetation types, and on occasions are expected to stay overnight. The work environment is dynamic, remote at times and weather dependant, so the successful applicant will be adaptable as conditions and new opportunities arise. The teams are friendly, inclusive, diverse, fit and supportive of each other with a high level of work ethic and performance standards.

This is a physically active role suited to candidates of all genders who are fit, enjoy working outdoors as part of a team, and are eager to learn and develop the skills and qualifications needed to contribute toward improving and maintaining some of NSW’s most precious natural places.

Field Officer applicants must meet the requirements of a firefighting medical which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake frontline firefighting roles. The applicant must pass the task based fitness assessment to a moderate level within the probationary period (up to 12 months) and annually thereafter.
