AGL is seeking a dedicated First Nations and Regional Development Specialist to join our Construction team in the Hunter Region. This role is pivotal in embedding First Nations engagement and regional development across our utility-scale power generation projects.
Key Purpose of the Role
Reporting to the Systems, Quality & ESG Manager, this role supports the successful execution of AGL’s construction projects by ensuring alignment with our ESG and
Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP)
commitments. You will work closely with Traditional Owner groups, local councils, and regional stakeholders to deliver meaningful engagement and development outcomes.

Key Accountabilities
  • Build and nurture strong relationships with Traditional Owner groups and Aboriginal organisations in the Hunter and Greater Newcastle Regions.
  • Integrate cultural heritage management, Indigenous procurement, and cultural awareness training into project planning and delivery.
  • Identify and implement opportunities for local employment, training, and business participation in collaboration with community stakeholders.
  • Champion community-led, culturally informed approaches to support AGL’s ESG framework and social licence commitments.
  • Coordinate with internal teams and monitor regional development KPIs, providing reporting on social licence and ESG outcomes.
Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Experience engaging with First Nations communities and regional stakeholders.
  • Strong cultural competency and relationship-building skills.
  • Background in cultural heritage management, Indigenous procurement, or social impact initiatives.
  • Demonstrated ability to operationalise ESG initiatives and collaborate across teams.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
