Who we are

In Melbourne, water is essential to our way of life.

As caretakers for Melbourne’s water cycle, we care for water, life and land throughout Melbourne: both its people and its biodiversity.

Each time you drink from the tap, flush a toilet, run through a yard sprinkler, or kayak down the Yarra, we’re there. Primed and ready, quietly delivering some of the world’s cleanest water for over five million residents and wildlife that call Melbourne home, just as we have for over 130 years.

If you value making it count, diving in with curiosity, and doing what’s right, you're in the right place.

About the Role

This full time permanent role is based from our 990 La Trobe Street, Docklands office. Reporting to the Area Lead, Flood and Stormwater Partnerships, this is a pivotal role within the Service Partnerships team.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading engagement with local government, VicSES, and emergency agencies.
  • Driving the development and implementation of innovative capacity building programs.
  • Managing stakeholder relationships and support strategic flood initiatives.

We're looking for someone with:

  • Strong interpersonal and project management skills.
  • Proven experience in stakeholder engagement and program delivery.
  • A strong understanding of flood management and stakeholder engagement.
  • The ability to influence, negotiate, and lead innovative partnership projects.

For more information please review the Position Description: Position Description_ Flood Partnerships Program Lead.pdf

About you:

  • Demonstrated understanding of flooding issues, management approaches, and risk management. An understanding of human behaviour principles and an ability to negotiate, influence decisions and cause behavioural change.
  • Awareness of the water industry and regulatory environment, Operating Charter, and Flood Management Strategy.
  • Demonstrated ability to initiate, build, maintain and enhance business relationships, both internal and external, to achieve mutually agreed outcomes.
  • A high degree of self-motivation, autonomy, resilience, adaptability and leadership.
  • Demonstrated ability with Microsoft suite of products, databases and GIS Applications, or demonstrated ability to learn these skills quickly.
  • Relevant tertiary qualification in environmental science or engineering or equivalent experience
  • Ability to pass a Criminal Records Check
  • Valid Victorian Driver’s License
