Your opportunity
As Funding Coordinator, you’ll be reporting to the NAL Operations & Finance Manager, and will be responsible for identifying opportunities and assisting staff in applying for grants and philanthropic opportunities. Working side by side with people who go the extra mile, you’ll also love the feeling of helping those who need us. Here’s how you’ll do it:
  • Pre-award – identifying opportunities, provide advice and assistance to applicants around drafting proposals, budgets and application to ensure they meet the requirements of the funding body.
  • Post-award – support reporting and track alignment with grant objectives
  • Research Development – provide high-level advice and guidance to early and mid-career industry-based researchers to improve their competitiveness
  • Manage internal approval process for EOIs and applications
  • Fine tune NAL’s funding process based on feedback and application of the process across NAL
  • Create and maintain a funding calendar with key submission and reporting dates
  • Work with the NAL Operations & Finance Manager to ensure overall compliance with relevant research standards
  • Research and communicate new funding opportunities that align with NAL’s strategy

What you’ll bring
We believe the successful candidate will have demonstrated analytical and persuasive writing skills experience as well as superior editing skills. You’ll bring:
  • Bachelor’s degree, highly desirable
  • 5+ years of experience in grant management, essential
  • Expert knowledge of the Australian higher education research environment and funding schemes including but not limited to the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) grant scheme
  • Ability to convey complex information in a clear manner to a diverse audience
  • Demonstrated success in obtaining grants
  • Strong administrative skills and motivation with the ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks under minimal supervision in effective and efficient manner
  • Ability to work under pressure and respond to deadlines without sacrificing quality
  • Ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, team-oriented, and mission driven environment
