About the role
St Joseph's Catholic School, Mundingburra is seeking an experienced and dedicated Groundsperson to commence 1 July 2025. This is a Fixed Term, Part Time position completing 26 hours per week across Three days for the remainder of the school year. (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8.76 hours per day)
The Groundsperson will be expected to work within and adhere to Workplace Health and Safety guidelines and demonstrate the knowledge and ability to work in a team environment.
Key Accountabilites
Other duties include:
- Maintain lawn, trim trees overhanging branches, hedging, blowing down and outdoor/indoor vacuuming/scrubbing
- Operations of different machinery, ride on and walk behind scrubbers, sweepers, mowers etc
- Assist with constant upkeep and upgrading of College grounds and gardens, including fertilising, weeding, pruning, poisoning, landscaping and minor irrigation checks, repairs and installation as required
- Bin runs, rubbish removal, tilling sandpits and pressure cleaning
- Assist with setting up and dismantling of equipment for College functions and displays, carnivals and assemblies
- Assist with marking playing fields
- Assist with garden cultivation and management
- Carry out minor repairs to the College property and equipment, including: but not limited to
- Routine maintenance and cleaning of machinery and school buildings, external and internal
- Assisting with all general building maintenance, painting etc. as required
- Identifying and reporting defects and hazards as soon as practically possible
- Assist with general maintenance, upkeep and cleaning duties as reasonably requested
- Undertake deliveries to and from the school and within the school
Other related duties as reasonably requested by the Grounds Supervisor and Facilities Manager.
Mandatory Criteria
- Current Working with Children Suitability Card - The successful candidate will require a paid Blue Card before commencement as per the No Card, No Start policy developed by Queensland Government.
- Undertake Workplace Health and Safety Training
- Current Driver’s Licence
- Ability to travel within the Catholic Diocese of Townsville
- Ability to perform the physical requirements of the role in a safe manner
Desirable Criteria
- Relevant certificate or trade qualifications.
- Previous installation and maintenance of irrigation systems
- Previous horticultural experience
