Position Information

Temora High School (FOEI 108) is a comprehensive secondary school in the Riverina on Wiradyuri country. The student population is 280 with seven per cent of students identifying as Aboriginal and three support classes. Students engage in diverse learning experiences that emphasise positive relationships, aspirations, and evidence-based learning to drive academic improvement and excellence.

The school is strengthening its focus on Aboriginal education and deepening connections with local support groups and the Aboriginal Education Consultative Group (AECG). Learning partnerships with TAFE, local businesses, the Shire Council, Aurora College, and Finigan Distance Education provide broader learning opportunities for students.

Temora High School is committed to fostering academic excellence, student empowerment, and strong community connections. High-impact teaching strategies, data-driven progress tracking, and targeted interventions ensure students are supported in setting and achieving academic goals, with a strong focus on literacy and numeracy.


Selection Criteria

Applicants must satisfy the teacher training and academic qualification requirements for this position. In addition to the general selection criteria,
  • Ability to lead inclusive, differentiated TAS programs that meet diverse student needs, including Aboriginal students and those requiring support or extension.
  • Experience in identifying and supporting high potential and gifted learners through teaching and learning, enrichment and extension strategies.
  • Use of explicit teaching to improve engagement, skill development and achievement across TAS subjects.
  • Demonstrated ability to build staff capacity and foster a culture of high expectations, while being a collaborative and visible leader who works effectively with the executive to implement whole school priorities.


General Selection Criteria

1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
