ABOUT GEMCO
Located on the tropical Groote Eylandt in the Northern Territory, GEMCO is an open-cut mine that is accountable for over 20% of the world’s manganese ore production. Groote Eylandt is home to the Anindilyakwa people, who are the traditional owners of the land and have been working alongside GEMCO since 1963

ABOUT THE ROLE
This role is a Permanent position on a 7:7 day shift roster, FIFO from Darwin or Cairns.
As the Health Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the South32 GEMCO Health and Safety Management System protects employees by providing medical care and managing injury activities.
Other key responsibilities include, but aren’t limited to:
- Provide medical care, manage work related injury activities and support health programs
- Review and advise on pre-employment and contractor medicals
- Conduct ongoing health surveillance daily (e.g. audio, spirometry)
- Conduct periodic medicals
ABOUT YOU
You will have experience and demonstrate capability in the following:
- Previous employment on mine sites or remote/regional healthcare settings
- Expertise in Occupational Health and clinical facilities management
- Proficient in clinical assessment and acute injury management
- Knowledgeable on Return to Work
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
Qualifications for this position are:
- Degree in Nursing
- Certificate Collect Specimens for Drugs of Abuse Testing
- Current and valid Australian drivers’ license
