Northern Health are seeking applications from motivated and suitably experienced Healthcare Interpreters to join the Transcultural and Language Service (TALS) team.
Northern Health is the major provider of acute, maternity, sub-acute, mental health, specialist, community and home-based services in Melbourne’s rapidly growing outer north.
Services are provided through our five main campuses:
Northern Hospital Epping, Broadmeadows Hospital, Bundoora Centre, Craigieburn Centre, and Kilmore District Hospital. In addition, Mental Health Services are provided at Epping, Broadmeadows, Jacana, Preston, Mill Park and Coburg.
About the Role:
An opportunity exists for enthusiastic Interpreters to join the newly created Casual Bank in the Transcultural and Language Services (TALS) team at Northern Health.
We are seeking interpreters from a broad range of languages including; Arabic, Italian, Greek, Macedonian, Vietnamese, Punjabi, Hindi, Urdu, Auslan, Mandarin, Cantonese, Spanish, Somali, Samoan & Many others. Interested applicants are encouraged to apply.
The role is a casual bank position where you may be required to travel and work across the various Northern Health Campuses.
This role is responsible for:
- Delivering on-site, telephone, and video interpreting services across Northern Health as required.
- Coordinating daily interpreting activities and collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective delivery of pre-arranged and on-demand services.
- Supporting interpreter bookings and supervising students as needed.
- Participating in staff professional development forums.
- Assisting in delivering TALS education on working with interpreters.
To be successful in this role you will have:
- A NAATI Certification
- NAATI Certification in Translation desirable
- Experience working as an Interpreter, particularly in the health sector
- Proven ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- A willingness to participate in service delivery activities and demonstrate a commitment to continued quality improvement
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
