About the Position:
The Human Resources Manager acts as a trusted advisor across all levels of the organization, supporting our people across the entire employee lifecycle.
You will be responsible for ensuring HR excellence is delivered across the business to achieve organisational goals. The role is generalist in nature, flexing to meet operational objectives and strategically planning for the future of Pelican with a seat at the local leadership table.
This is a permanent, full-time position (38 hours per week), reporting into the global HR team and based at our Knoxfield, Victoria site with some WFH flexibility.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic HR Business Partnering:
- Collaborate closely with the Australian business leadership team to align HR strategy with business priorities, ensuring the right structures, behaviours, and talent are in place.
- Drive HR support across our manufacturing site, with a hands-on approach to frontline engagement, performance management, WHS compliance, and skills development.
- Partner with site managers to ensure compliance and/or improvement in WHS policies, training, investigations, and reporting.
- Manage workers’ compensation claims end-to-end, ensuring all documentation is accurate, compliant, and submitted on time.
- Lead local recruitment efforts, onboarding, development, and succession planning.
- Oversee position descriptions, job evaluations, and coordinate our annual performance program.
- Ensure accurate and timely management of employee information and HRIS data integrity and confidentiality.
- Provide guidance on employment legislation, policies, enterprise agreements, and HR best practices.
- Lead workplace investigations
- Foster an inclusive, respectful and engaged workplace through proactive employee relations, conflict resolution, engagement surveys, and well-being initiatives.
- Implement programs that build leadership capability, skills, and safety awareness across all levels.
- Drive continuous improvement through employee feedback, culture initiatives, and HR metrics that inform decision-making.

- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business or related discipline
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in an HR leadership role, ideally within a manufacturing, industrial or operations environment
- Strong working knowledge of Australian employment law, WHS legislation, and enterprise agreements
- Demonstrated ability to drive engagement and lead change across diverse workforces
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and coach at all levels
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems (Ceridian/Dayforce experience is a plus)
