What you'll be doing
The ICU/PICU Quality Manager will take a lead role in driving excellence in patient care by managing the Quality and Safety Portfolio within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) at John Hunter Hospital. This position is central to ensuring that our intensive care services meet the highest standards of safety, clinical governance, and continuous improvement.
In this role, you will:
- Lead quality and safety initiatives by reviewing clinical incidents (including IMS, London Protocols, and RCAs) and transforming data into meaningful actions that enhance patient outcomes.
- Support and monitor improvement programs and ensure alignment with National Safety and Quality Health Service Standards, playing a vital role in accreditation processes.
- Prepare, coordinate and facilitate ICU/PICU Clinical Quality and Patient Care (CQPC) meetings, ensuring key issues are identified, addressed, and actioned.
- Collaborate across disciplines by working closely with clinicians, nurse managers, medical directors, and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety, accountability, and excellence.
- Contribute to continuous learning and system improvement through audits, action planning, staff education, and accreditation preparation.
Act as a champion for quality and governance, influencing change and supporting innovation within one of the busiest critical care services in NSW.
