Job Description
The Indigenous Mentor Liaison Officer is responsible for providing comprehensive support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander employees at Sodexo, both onshore and offshore. The role is dedicated to fostering the development, retention, and success of Indigenous employees by offering guidance, cultural support, and career development assistance across various locations, including remote and offshore sites.
Key responsibilities include facilitating mentorship for program participants through regular yarns, psycho-social support, career planning, and referrals to appropriate support services. The position will also ensure culturally safe and inclusive environments, whether onshore or offshore, by maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders and promoting the goals and objectives of Sodexo’s Reconciliation Action Plan.
Education
• Senior Secondary Certificate of Education
Experience
• Achievement of or progress towards qualifications in Human Resources, business, Australian Indigenous
cultural studies or a similar discipline.
• Recruitment skills and experience working within a human resources environment.
• Knowledge of the Mining and Resources industry and remote catering and facilities management.
• Experience providing psycho-social support whilst maintaining professional boundaries. (Highly Desirable)
Offshore experience desirable
Knowledge & Skills
• A demonstrated understanding of Australian Indigenous cultures and Australian Indigenous community
groups.
• Good networks with Indigenous individuals, communities, organisations and support services.
• A professional, nurturing and understanding manner and an ability to provide support and assistance to
Indigenous employees.
• Computer literacy in Microsoft Office.
• Police Clearance.
• Knowledge of the mining and resources industry and remote catering and facilities management.
