As the Information Services Officer, you will provide frontline technical support and contribute to the operation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Council’s IT systems and infrastructure. This role is responsible for resolving hardware, software, and network issues, supporting core business systems, and ensuring a secure, reliable, and efficient IT environment. You will also assist with cybersecurity monitoring and play an important role in delivering responsive IT services across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first and second-level technical support to Council staff for hardware, software, and network-related issues.
- Set up, configure, and deploy IT equipment including PCs, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals for new users or relocations.
- Log, manage, and resolve incidents and service requests through the helpdesk system in a timely and professional manner.
- Support and maintain Council’s core enterprise systems, such as planning, finance, property and rating, HR systems, and M365.
- Assist with monitoring and maintaining the organisation’s LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN, and other network infrastructure in collaboration with the Systems Support Officer.
- Contribute to system upgrades, patching schedules, and organisation-wide software rollouts.
- Maintain accurate IT asset records and assist in coordinating equipment replacements in line with lifecycle policies.
- Monitor Council’s cyber security tools, including SIEM and Microsoft Defender, and report relevant security events to the Information Services Manager.
- Support disaster recovery and business continuity plans through regular checks of system backups and failover readiness.
- Assist with mobile device management, remote support tools, and virtualised environments where required.
- Foster a positive customer service experience for internal users and contribute to continuous improvement in IT service delivery.
A motivated and technically skilled Information Services Officer to provide frontline IT support and assist with the operation and maintenance of Council’s systems and infrastructure. The ideal candidate will have sound knowledge of IT environments, a proactive approach to resolving issues, and the ability to support users across the organisation in a timely and professional manner.

- Demonstrated experience providing first and second-level technical support across hardware, software, and network issues.
- Proficiency in setting up and maintaining IT equipment, including desktops, printers, mobile devices, and peripherals.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 applications and system administration.
- Strong understanding of IT service desk operations, including incident management and resolution tracking.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
- Well-developed organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing demands.
- Current Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver Licence (minimum P1).
- Experience working in virtualised environments, particularly using VMware.
- Understanding of, or qualifications in, the ITIL Service Delivery framework.
- Experience using Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems, particularly Microsoft Sentinel.
- Experience with Microsoft 365 administration, Entra ID (Azure Active Directory), and Microsoft Defender for Endpoint.
- Experience using Mobile Device Management (MDM) platforms to enrol and manage mobile devices.
- Familiarity with Vulnerability Management Systems (e.g. Rapid7) and Remote Management Tools (e.g. GoTo Assist).
Level 3 Year 1 - $74,890.00 per annum plus superannuation.
