Gameloft Brisbane, in partnership with Screen Queensland, is offering an exciting internship opportunity for an aspiring game developer in Queensland.
We’re on the lookout for emerging talent to join our fun, collaborative, and creative team in Brisbane.
This opportunity is designed specifically for true emerging talent—those who haven’t yet worked in the games industry but are keen to get their foot in the door.
As an Intern Sound Designer, you'll be part of a project team with real responsibilities, contributing to the design, quality, and creative direction of a game currently in development. This is a 6-month, full-time paid internship designed to give you the experience and support you need to kickstart your career.
What you will do day to day:
- Design and create original sound effects for various elements of our game projects.
- Conduct live recording sessions to capture foley and field recordings tailored to project needs.
- Implement sound assets in Wwise, actively developing your skills to build more complex and dynamic sound systems.
- Begin learning Wwise integration within Unreal Engine, with a focus on understanding the basics of implementing audio directly into the game environment.
- Regularly playtest the game to identify areas for audio improvement or opportunities for new sound design.
- Manage assigned tasks in Jira, maintain clear communication with team members, and document audio features and workflows effectively.
Qualifications
Qualifications
- A strong portfolio showcasing your audio skills, creativity, and understanding of game audio.
- Completed tertiary studies in Game Audio, general Audio, or a related field or self-taught.
- A strong passion for game audio, with a keen ear for detail and quality.
- Familiarity with industry-standard audio tools such as DAWs (eg. Reaper), Audio Middleware (eg. Wwise), Live Recording Equipment, Plugins and Sound Libraries.
- Basic knowledge of game engines (preferably Unreal Engine).
- Strong creative and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work well within a team and effectively communicate sound design and interactive audio ideas.
General Skills Required
- Foundational knowledge of sound design and audio tools, including DAWs, sound libraries, FX plugins, and mixing plugins.
- Basic experience with game audio technical tools such as Wwise, Unreal Engine, and Perforce.
- Introductory understanding of project management and planning tools, including Jira and Confluence.
