About the Role
Based in our Bunbury WA office, the Junior Infrastructure Technician will provide technical support and maintenance for an organization's IT infrastructure, including hardware, software, and networks. They handle user support requests, manage user accounts, and assist with various IT projects. This role requires strong technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and excellent communication skills to effectively support users and maintain the IT environment.
The Junior Infrastructure Technician will:
- Provide support for hardware, software, and network issues, often through a help desk or ticketing system.
- Install, configure, and maintain computer systems, peripherals, and software applications.
- Assist with the maintenance of network infrastructure, including firewalls, routers, switches, and VPNs.
- Manage user accounts, permissions, and access to various systems and applications.
- Perform regular system backups, data recovery, and ensuring data integrity.
- Assist with the implementation and maintenance of IT security measures and best practices.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, user guides, and standard operating procedures.
- Work with other IT team members and cross-departmentally to resolve issues and complete projects.
Requirements of the role – What to highlight in your application.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong understanding of computer hardware, operating systems, networking concepts, and common software applications.
- Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently and effectively.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with users and other team members.
- Customer Service: Ability to provide excellent customer service and support to users.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize workload effectively.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to follow procedures and maintain accurate records.
These qualities are considered a plus, but are not essential:
- Ability to build and diagnose outdated IT systems for the purposes of restoring old archive data for clients. Knowledge of older Windows systems (Windows XP, 2000, 2003, 2012 etc), Exchange Databases (5.0, 2000, 2003, 2007 etc), SQL Databases (2000, 2005, 2008, 2012 etc), Lotus Notes.
- Knowledge of older tape backup formats and software. (HP Data Protector, BackupExec, Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup, ARCserve.)
