About the role
We are looking for a Junior Sign Writer to join our team in Brendale. The ideal candidate will be capable of multitasking, prioritising, and working independently in a fast-paced setting. This position provides a great opportunity to develop practical skills and gain valuable hands-on experience.
Responsibilities:
· Cleaning and Preparation
- Maintain a clean and organised workspace, including tools and equipment.
- Prepare surfaces for signage installation by cleaning and priming as needed.
· Measuring and Planning
- Measure spaces and substrates for signage to ensure precise fit and placement.
- Assist with reading and interpreting job specifications and plans.
· Sticker and Vinyl Work
- Cut vinyl and stickers using plotters and manual tools.
- Weed excess vinyl from stickers and lettering with precision.
- Assemble multi-layered vinyl designs and apply transfer tape.
· Sign Fabrication
- Assist with the assembly of signs, including gluing, screwing, or bolting parts together.
- Lay up signs by applying vinyl, decals, or other materials to various substrates (e.g., metal, acrylic, wood).
· Sign Installation
- Assist in installing signs at indoor and outdoor locations under supervision.
- Ensure installations meet safety standards and are level, aligned, and securely fastened.
· Tool and Equipment Use
- Safely operate cutting machines, heat guns, and other tools under supervision.
- Conduct basic maintenance of tools and report issues promptly.
· Stock Management
- Keep track of materials and notify senior staff when supplies are low.
- Assist with organizing and storing raw materials like vinyl rolls, substrates, and tools.
· Team Support
- Help senior signwriters with more complex projects and learn through observation.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with team members and supervisors.
· Adhering to Safety Standards
- Follow all workplace safety guidelines, including the use of PPE (e.g., gloves, safety glasses).
- Understand and comply with manual handling practices to avoid injuries.
· Learning and Development
- Participate in on-the-job training and seek guidance to improve skills.
- Stay updated with new techniques, tools, and materials in the signage industry.
