Your Opportunity
Our residential aged care facility caters to men and women who are homeless or at risk of homelessness, or who have experienced financial or social disadvantage.
We are seeking a reliable, proactive Kitchen hand to join our dedicated kitchen team within our aged care facility. In this hands-on role, you will support the preparation, storage and delivery of meals to our residents, ensuring high standards of food safety, hygiene and service are maintained at all times.
Shifts: Tuesday 6 am until 2:06 pm, Thursday 11 am until 7:06 pm and Friday and Saturday 1 pm until 7:30 pm.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Assist with meal preparation and presentation under the direction of the Head Chef and Cook – including modified diets catering to dietary restrictions
- Receive and store food deliveries promptly, maintaining correct stock rotation and temperature control
- Serve meals courteously, ensuring all dietary requirements are met and food is delivered safely and professionally
- Maintain accurate food safety documentation in line with the Vulnerable Persons Food Safety Program
- Uphold WHS and infection control standards through strict adherence to hand hygiene, uniform policy and kitchen cleaning procedures
- Participate in ongoing quality improvement and promptly report issues such as pests, hazards or equipment damage
- Support the security of kitchen facilities, equipment and stock
Requirements for Success
- Experience working in aged care would be an advantage
- Experience in a food handling role – preferred
- Experience in cooking/catering- advantageous
- Knowledge and understanding of food hygiene and food safety
- Relevant Certificate in Food Safety
- Flu and Covid two dose plus booster vaccination is mandatory
