Purpose of Position: At Flexitarian Meal Solutions, we build consumer brands in-house from the ground up to develop diverse products on a large scale. The primary responsibility of this role will be to assist with food preparation tasks and ensure that ingredients are ready for cooking according to the recipes and instructions provided by the Head Chef in each shift. You will play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency of the kitchen by preparing ingredients and assisting with various pre-cooking tasks.
Key Accountabilities:
- Receive instructions from the Head Chef regarding the preparation and delivery of ingredients for each shift.
- Physically transport ingredients, trays, boxes, and supplies to and from storage areas and the kitchen team.
- Gather the necessary ingredients, supplies and equipment required for food preparation.
- Collect missing ingredients, vegetables, or meat according to specific recipes.
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation in the kitchen prep and storage areas.
- Adhere to food safety and hygiene standards at all times, including handwashing, sanitization, and temperature control.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and report shortages or discrepancies to the Head Chef.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of food preparation tasks.
- Support the kitchen team in heavy-duty tasks, including lifting, carrying, and arranging trays, boxes, and large ingredients safely.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes:
- Basic knowledge of food safety principles, including proper handling, storage, and sanitation practices.
- Ability to read and interpret recipe sheets and follow instructions accurately.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in the kitchen operations.
- A passion for food and a commitment to delivering high-quality meals.
- Ability to communicate and work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, weekends, and holidays as required.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $24.95 – $38.47 per hour
Expected hours: 38 per week
