Field Day is a new cafe nestled in the heart of Warrandyte, serving specialty coffee and thoughtful food. We’re a small, passionate team dedicated to creating a warm, community-first experience. Our menu is designed to evolve with the seasons and with our team.
We are currently building our kitchen systems from the ground up and are on the lookout for a reliable and motivated supervisor to join us during this exciting growth phase.
About the Role
This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a small team environment, is confident with establishing kitchen systems, and is open to growing with the business. We’re seeking someone comfortable with food prep, stock rotation, and basic kitchen operations. But more importantly, someone who also wants to contribute ideas, support menu development, and help shape a sustainable kitchen culture.
You’ll be working closely with the owners, helping with daily prep and service, organising the kitchen space, and menu development.
We’re open to different backgrounds and experiences. If you’re a keen baker, into fermentation, or food science, or just love crafting good food and working efficiently with others, we want to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily kitchen operations and BOH workflow
- Manage stock, ordering, supplier comms, and inventory systems
- Oversee food safety, cleaning schedules, and kitchen compliance
- Prep and assemble food items to spec (sandwiches, salads, baked goods, etc.)
- Collaborate on menu planning, recipe documentation, and systems building
- Guide and support other team members during prep and service
About You
- You have solid kitchen experience in a leadership or supervisory role
- You’re highly organised and love building effective systems
- You work clean, think ahead, and manage time well
- You’re confident running BOH independently and taking ownership
- You’re a calm communicator who thrives in a small, collaborative team
- You're open to the challenge of working in a limited kitchen setup
