RMIT University is seeking a bold and energetic Lead, Education Gen AI to drive the adoption and integration of generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the classroom, enhancing the educator and student experience.
This role sits at the heart of RMIT’s AI approach for education. You will lead the design and delivery of our generative AI capability program, helping educators build confidence, competence, and curiosity through hands-on exposure to tools, pilots, and new ideas.
You’ll also scout and support emerging AI use cases that improve curriculum, pedagogy, assessment, and the broader student experience.
- Lead the development of generative AI capabilities for educators, promoting ethical and responsible use.
- Identify and support high-impact AI pilots and concepts, guiding them from idea to implementation.
- Build robust frameworks that integrate AI seamlessly into learning and teaching, ensuring transparency and trust.
- Partner with academic and professional staff to identify and deliver impactful AI solutions that align with RMIT’s commitment to responsible innovation.
- Champion best practice and foster a culture of responsible experimentation across the educator community.
- Facilitate workshops and training that empower educators to leverage AI effectively and responsibly, upholding academic integrity and student wellbeing.

We’re after a curious, community builder, who can lead from the front as AI finds it’s place in learning and teaching. Ideally, you’ll bring:
- Strong understanding of generative AI frameworks tools, trends and ethics.
- Proven experience developing or implementing innovative initiatives or technology solutions, preferably within the education sector
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
- A natural collaborator, with excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills to build strong partnerships and influence diver groups of academic, professional and technical staff.
- Familiarity with learning and teaching pedagogy and concepts, and higher education regulatory environments
- Experience applying generative AI to enhance content, processes, or experiences, with a focus on innovation and ethical practice.

About the Portfolio
The Education Portfolio is headed by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor Education and Vice President who leads the planning and implementation of the University’s strategies related to RMIT’s academic programs and the RMIT student experience. The Portfolio is responsible for services to support the quality of RMIT programs, including the professional development of academic staff, continuous improvement of the student experience, learning and teaching outcomes and the management of learning and research information sources. The Education Portfolio plays a key role in empowering students to access education, participate actively in the life of the University and achieve successful and fulfilling lives beyond graduation. The Centre for Education, Innovation, and Quality (CEIQ ) sits within the Education Portfolio under the direction of the Associate Deputy Vice Chancellor Education. CEIQ supports the attainment of academic standards across RMIT University. It provides an enterprise wide interpretive and evaluative function to ensure consistent process, practice and design in academic quality supporting continuous improvement and transparency in reporting of enterprise-wide outcomes to key bodies and boards to support assurance compliance and enhancement. CEIQ and its operations drive consistency in design and direction across RMIT University to support academic quality and continuous improvement of all accredited programs and products, enhancing our student and staff experience. The Centre partners and collaborates with RMIT Colleges/Schools and other portfolios to support staff across the University to embed a culture of academic quality and enhancement.
