- Full-time, ongoing position at our Hawthorn campus
- Academic Level B salary + 17% super and staff benefits
About the Role
The Department of Education at Swinburne University of Technology is seeking a passionate and forward-thinking academic to join our dynamic team. Located within the School of Social Sciences, Media, Film and Education, our Department is driven by a strong commitment to social impact, educational excellence, and community engagement. Everything we do—whether in research, teaching, or collaboration—is focused on making a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and communities we serve.
We are looking for a suitably qualified and experienced educator with a specialisation in literacy to contribute to our initial teacher education programs at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This role will involve designing and delivering high-quality learning experiences across a range of blended, hybrid, and online formats. You will play a key role in shaping and enhancing literacy education across the curriculum, while also supporting ongoing course development and alignment. Your work will contribute to national accreditation processes and engagement with external partners and professional bodies.
Beyond teaching, the successful candidate will actively contribute to the research profile of the Department by leading or participating in a focused area of educational research. Supervision of postgraduate research students will also be a central part of the role, offering you the opportunity to guide and mentor the next generation of researchers and educators.
Joining Swinburne means becoming part of a university that champions innovation, inclusion, and industry connection. In our Department of Education, you’ll find a collaborative and supportive environment where your expertise can make a lasting impact—both in the classroom and in the broader community.
If you're ready to contribute to a team that is passionate about literacy education and dedicated to shaping socially responsible educators, we invite you to apply.
About You
To thrive in this role, you'll bring experience in the following areas:
- You’ve taught at the university level and have experience coordinating subjects, especially those focused on literacy.
- You enjoy creating engaging learning experiences, whether that’s in person, online, or a mix of both.
- Supporting and mentoring students comes naturally to you—you’re passionate about helping them grow.
- You’re starting to build a strong research profile and are keen to keep developing it.
- You’re organised, proactive, and comfortable juggling competing deadlines when things get busy.
- You’re a great communicator and work well both on your own and as part of a team.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor in Education and/or Postgraduate Teaching Degree
- A Doctoral qualification relevant to Education
