Primary objective
Literacy Production Supervisor is responsible for the Bilingual Resource Development Unit in the support of the Indigenous
Language and Culture program at Yuendumu School.
Context statement
Yuendumu School is a Bilingual School, located in Central Australia. It has a student population of 200 students across Years Levels
T-12. The student population is made up of majority Indigenous students who speak Warlpiri and who are learning Standard
Australian English as an additional language.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Negotiate and supervise daily operations of the Bilingual Resource Development Unit and assist with its priorities.
2. In consultation with the Two-Way Senior Teacher and other staff as appropriate, plan and implement a literacy production
schedule.
3. Supervise and assist Literacy Workers in the preparation and production of literacy materials in Warlpiri.
4. Ensure all publishing and computer equipment is properly operated and maintained.
5. Under the direction of the principal take responsibility for the financial arrangement of the Bilingual Resource Development
Unit, including the ordering of supplies and assisting with submission writing.
6. Provide appropriate training for Literacy Workers in desktop publishing computer operations, including word processing, digital
imaging, and other functions of the unit.
7. Provide technical advice and support to team members of the Indigenous Language and Culture Program.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Relevant experience in digital print production techniques, including extensive experience with relevant programs, content
management software, and app design.
2. A demonstrated ability to project manages in a clear and organised manner, with the ability to work and interact in a
collaborative and positive manner both in a cross-cultural and educational setting in a team situation.
3. High level competency in digital print production techniques including desktop publishing computer operations, including word
processing, digital imaging, and other functions of the unit.
4. Proven ability of related Information Technology and production issues in a Windows and Apple environment, demonstrated
ability to provide technical advice and support to others in the use of information technology.
5. Current Working with Children Clearance Notice, (Ochre Card) or ability to obtain it on selection.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in graphic design or equivalent.
2. Experience in budget management.
3. Experience in training adults
