Groundskeeper / General Maintenance (Pet Boarding)

At Kip Hunter Valley, our team is deeply committed to delivering exceptional care to every furry friend that walks through it's doors. We are now looking for the pick of the litter to complement our existing team and help contribute to providing a premium service to the local pets.
If you are an all-rounder, jack-of-all-trades who thrives in a diverse role, we want to hear from you! This is a casual position working approximately 12–15 hours per week, with additional hours during summer to accommodate increased grounds maintenance.
Note: Over summer, lawn mowing and whipper snipping on the 10.5-acre property are required weekly and typically take two full shifts to complete.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Maintain a high standard of presentation across the site, including garden beds, lawns, and play yards
- Perform general groundskeeping duties, such as mowing, whipper snipping, pruning, weeding, fertilising, and managing sprinkler systems
- Carry out general handyman tasks, including patching, painting, replacing light globes, basic repairs, and general labouring
- Conduct regular inspections of all boarding areas and address maintenance issues in a timely and effective manner
- Maintain and clean all pathways, grates, and outdoor common areas, ensuring they are free from rubbish, weeds, and debris
- Operate and maintain groundskeeping equipment (e.g. ride-on and zero-turn mowers, leaf blowers) according to manuals and seasonal schedules
- Complete scheduled maintenance tasks, including:
- Water tank pump checks
- Clearing drains in rooms
- Testing smoke detectors
- Gutter cleaning and cobweb removal
- Coordinating equipment servicing
- Collaborate with the Kip Facilities Manager on site improvement projects
- Work alongside external contractors when licensed trades or specialised services are required
Key requirements:
- Availability to work weekends and during school holidays
- Comfortable working with and around animals
- Physically fit and able to perform physically demanding outdoor tasks
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as within a team environment
- Strong work ethic with a proactive and positive attitude
- Proven experience in acreage maintenance, including:
- Use of zero-turn and ride-on mowers
- Lawn care, whipper snipping, pruning, and weed management
- Proficiency with basic maintenance tools and equipment (e.g. hand tools, leaf blowers)
- Experience performing routine repairs and general upkeep tasks (e.g. fixing gates, doors, lights)
- Familiarity with WHS standards and safe handling/disposal of chemicals
- Ability to follow established routines, policies, and procedures
- Confident in coordinating with external service providers and contractors
