Job Expectations
Build your career and Australia’s future.
Not many people can say they are working on building Australia’s future. With us you’ll be doing just that, leaving a legacy for all Australians. Plus, there’s equal employment, great training, and true flexible working arrangements.
A bit about your role
The Major Incident & Critical Response Manager plays a key role in leading the response to significant incidents across nbn’s network, facilities, and technology systems. This position is responsible for coordinating cross-functional teams, managing communications, and ensuring the timely restoration of services. The role supports the continuity of operations and helps minimise disruption for customers and partners during high-impact events.
In addition to managing live incidents, the role involves assessing risks, guiding emergency responses, and maintaining clear communication with internal and external stakeholders. The position also contributes to business continuity planning and leads post-incident reviews to support continuous improvement. This role is central to maintaining the resilience and reliability of Australia’s digital infrastructure.
This is a 24/7 role, operating on a rotating roster to ensure continuous coverage and rapid response to critical incidents.
A bit about you
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience managing critical incidents in complex operational environments. A strong ability to lead teams through high-pressure situations and make timely, informed decisions is essential. Clear and effective communication with both technical and non-technical stakeholders is a key requirement.
Success in this role depends on sound judgement, the ability to coordinate across diverse teams, and a practical understanding of emergency response frameworks. A collaborative and outcome-focused approach is highly valued, along with the ability to remain composed and responsive in dynamic situations.
