Band 8 - $117,024 - $131,128 yearly, plus 11.5% statutory superannuation
Wellington Shire Council is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Major Projects and Principal Strategic Planner to lead and deliver key strategic planning priorities that will shape the future of our growing municipality.
In this senior role, you will take the lead on major planning initiatives - supporting the delivery of complex projects, managing Planning Scheme Amendments, and guiding policy development to align with Council’s long-term vision. Your work will have a direct impact on the development of our communities, particularly in areas of renewable energy growth, infrastructure, and economic development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and project manage major strategic planning initiatives and amendments.
- Drive forward planning priorities, including growth management and renewable energy strategy.
- Provide expert advice and mentoring to support the Strategic Planning team.
- Represent Council at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, Planning Panels, and other public forums.
- Oversee and report on strategic planning budgets and grant funding.
- Build strong partnerships with stakeholders, including community groups, developers, consultants, and government authorities.
What We Are Looking For:
- A tertiary qualification in Planning or a related field.
- Extensive experience in strategic and statutory planning, preferably in a local government context.
- Strong project management, problem-solving, and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Confidence in navigating complex planning issues and providing strategic advice.
- A collaborative, proactive and technically capable professional with a strong understanding of planning legislation and policy.
