Court Services Victoria provides corporate services and facilities to support the performance of the judicial, quasi-judicial and administrative functions of Victoria's courts and tribunal, Judicial College and Judicial Commission.

Collectively, Victoria's Supreme, County, Magistrates', Children's, and Coroners courts, the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT), the Judicial College of Victoria, the Judicial Commission of Victoria, and Court Services Victoria (CSV) are referred to as the ‘Courts Group'.

VCAT

The Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal (VCAT) is a justice service that resolves a wide range of disputes for the Victorian community, including renting, planning, and consumer disputes. VCAT is committed to delivering an accessible service for all Victorians and is transforming our digital products and services to make it faster, easier, and more convenient for people to come to the tribunal.

VCAT has embarked on a service transformation focused on delivering enhance digital service, providing easier access to services, developing stronger connections with service partners through technology integrations and digital workflows and building an empowered and capable workforce who are receptive and ready for change.


About the Role

The role supports and implements change initiatives and undertakes activities designed to improve Tribunal operations and service delivery.

You will be responsible for:

  • leading and supervising staff performance and the daily operations of the Bench Clerk team
  • answering complex enquiries and identifying and acting on priority and urgent matters
  • esuring the delivery of appropriate training and assisting staff to provide accurate and consistent information to users of the Tribunal
  • establishing and maintaining effective communication with managers across VCAT operations
  • identifying and assisting in the implementation of business initiatives and undertaking project activities under the guidance of the Manager, Listings
  • drafting and preparing highly developed written correspondence and reports
  • managing functions arising from digital hearings including rostering staff resources to digital hearings

This role is a fixed term position until 31 January 2026


About You

The preferred candidate will be able to show demonstrated experience:

  • leading a high performing team in a fast-paced, high-volume operational environment
  • managing service delivery and driving continuous improvement across dispersed teams
  • using highly developed communication skills, stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with a proven ability to collbatorate effeictively across jurisdictions
  • working and applying strong communication skills with judicial officers, registrars and senior executives
  • using strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with experience in policy and procedure development, performance reporting and using technology to enhance service efficiency and user experience.
