Business Banking (BB) manages relationships with Commonwealth Bank’s small-medium enterprise customers, mid-market corporate customers, and regional and agribusiness customers, providing a wide range of financial services and solutions. It also services our personal and institutional online trading customers.
Business Lending (BL) is a product and specialised sales team that offers working capital, business loans, asset finance, corporate finance, and property finance to our customers. It also has responsibility for Line 1 risk and controls for these products. BL is directly responsible for product management, process management, portfolio and pricing management. It works closely with bankers, data and analytics, digital and customer experience teams.
The Pricing & Capital Team is accountable for Business Lending price settings and approvals, optimisation of capital efficiency for business lending customers, and analysis of relationship and portfolio returns to drive the Business Bank’s strategic growth objectives and risk adjusted returns.

We are seeking a talented individual to join our team as Manager - Business Lending Pricing. This role involves management of the Business Lending pricing desk through decisioning pricing escalations, developing and maintaining strong relationships with the frontline and considering the volume/margin trade-off to maximise BB outcomes.
Key responsibilities
Oversee the central pricing inbox and workflow, including responding to pricing submissions, technical and policy queries, and escalation requests from frontline bankers – directly influencing the composition of the BL portfolio.
Educate frontline bankers and analysts on best-in-class pricing behaviours through direct contact, online and in-person training and producing assets for digital communication channels.
Work with frontline teams to structure lending proposals to optimise capital efficiency, risk-adjusted returns, and customer outcomes.
Generate, implement and test the robustness of systematic portfolio pricing strategies.
Collaborate with product, technical, risk and policy experts across both Business Lending and CBA broadly to drive the effective use of data and analytical insights.
Manage and provide recommendations on the Transfer Pricing treatment for Business Lending products.
Undertake portfolio analysis, develop insights and produce recommendations for senior stakeholders to help product and portfolio strategy.
Lead the production of regular and ad hoc reporting packs, delivering clear, data-driven narratives .
We are looking for people who have
Demonstrated ability to make timely, accurate decisions, integrating quantitative and qualitative factors with a clear focus on optimising the volume-margin tradeoff and risk adjusted returns
Strong understanding of the diverse financial and non-financial factors that influence pricing decisions, including customer needs, market dynamics, risk considerations, and BB’s strategic objectives
Proven track record operating in high pressure environments, managing multiple competing priorities within strict timelines
Demonstrated ability to engage proactively, effectively and efficiently with stakeholders to understand and solve problems
Ability to communicate recommendations clearly, logically and empathetically to stakeholders at all levels of the organisation
A curious mindset and structured approach to problem solving, even when faced with incomplete and ambiguous information
A solid grasp of business finance concepts, bank lending and financial risk management
Experience in commercial lending or business banking, either in frontline distribution, credit, or pricing roles would be highly desirable
A degree in a quantitative discipline (such as finance or mathematics) or commerce-linked field (economics, accounting) would be highly desirable
