Job Description
This role provides technical expertise and professional support in relation to SEC/PCAOB independence matters to our Audit & Assurance team. Our Audit teams provide value to our clients by delivering specialised quality audit and assurance services. High-quality, independent financial statement audits are essential to maintaining investor confidence. Our audit professionals are committed to the public interest, challenging assumptions, and unlocking valuable insights based on a solid understanding of an organisation’s business and industry.
This role can be located in either Melbourne or Sydney and is an initial 3 - 6 month contract.
Your Opportunity
- Assist the Ethics & Independence Director and the Audit Director in managing various SEC/PCAOB Engagement Independence matters as well as APES 110, IESBA, and Corporations Act 2001 Auditor Independence matters.
- Manage and execute the Engagement Independence component of large-scale onboarding of prospective SEC audit clients.
- Consult with the Ethics & Independence team, the wider firm and other member firms to share knowledge on specific SEC independence issues, to provide added value and timely responses to the business.
- Remain resilient under pressure and prioritise multiple tasks as necessary.
- Build effective relationships with KPMG Partners and staff both locally and globally.
- May be required to supervise a team including a consultant and/or senior consultant

Your Experience
- Demonstrate knowledge of SEC and PCAOB Auditor Independence rules and regulations, particularly in the Engagement Independence space – Required
- Experience in audit, risk consulting or risk management from either a Big 4 or mid-tier professional services firm (minimum 3 years)
- An experience in the onboarding of prospective SEC audit clients would be an added advantage.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Auditor independence rules and regulations, such as APES 110, IESBA, and Corporations Act 2001, and awareness of EU and UK PIE rules.
