The Opportunity
Maternal and Child Health (MCH) sits within City Life. MCH provides a family focused primary health care service that optimises the health and development of children 0-6 years and supports families to be confident and capable in their decision making related to their children.
Melton City Council’s Maternal and Child Health team is going through some exciting changes as the first standalone Maternal and Child Health business unit in Victoria in a community of rapid growth. The position will play a vital role in supporting and guiding Universal MCH Nurses, MCH Nurse graduates, and nurses working in the newly implemented Victorian MCH Nurse (VMCHN) Student Model.
We currently have an opportunity for an experienced MCH Nurse to join the MCH Leadership Team. The position will report to the Manager Maternal and Child Health. In this role you will take a lead role in the strategic planning and compliance requirements for the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Service (MCH) unit.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of policy, risk management process and local guidelines for the MCH service unit.
- Lead the implementation and review of the Clinical Governance Framework.
- Lead internal and external compliance and reporting requirements for the MCH service unit.
- Implement skill and training development opportunities for the MCH unit to ensure compliance with policy, legislative requirement and funding and service agreements.
- Keep abreast of state and federal policy and provide expert advice and analysis to strategically position Council to achieve positive outcomes.
- Where appropriate participate and represent the City of Melton to other levels of Government, and Community Service Organisations particularly related to planning and strategic development.

About you
To be successful in this role you will have the following:
- Current Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency and must hold qualifications in Maternal and Child Health.
- Be a qualified Maternal and Child Health Nurse.
- Substantial Maternal Child and Health practice experience and strong understanding of the service system.
- Substantial experience in policy development, planning activities including reporting on performance.
- Substantial experience in leading organisational compliance and regulatory requirements.
- Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
- Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
