The Opportunity
Orrcon Steel is looking for a Mechanical Engineer in our Maintenance and Reliability team based in Unanderra. Orrcon Steel is a manufacturer of steel tube and pipe and leading Australian steel distributor with nationally recognised brands. This role is ideal for someone with a passion for CAD and mechanical design who also enjoys being hands-on. You'll see your concepts evolve from screen to factory floor, and you'll be there as they’re built, tested, and commissioned. Leverage your mechanical expertise and engineering creativity into a real-world setting. You’ll have a genuine seat at the table, shaping how systems are built, installed, and improved—not just for today, but for the long-term future of the site. What Will You Do?
Working with brand-new plant, you’ll enjoy seeing your designs come to life right in front of you. You’ll focus on:
- developing and delivering cost-effective, high-quality mechanical designs that support operational and project requirements
- providing technical support to improve equipment reliability, reduce downtime, and enhance overall plant performance
- contribute to the development and optimisation of maintenance and asset management strategies through smart design solutions
- ensure all designs comply with relevant safety, regulatory, and engineering standards
- collaborate with operations, maintenance, and external suppliers to deliver effective engineering outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives
More About You
Perhaps you are a Mechanical Engineer who thrives on turning ideas into tangible results, or someone who specialises in design work with experience in Manufacturing. You’ll bring:
- a tertiary degree in Mechanical Engineering, with a solid understanding of mechanical design principles and engineering standards
- proven experience in developing mechanical designs for industrial or manufacturing environments
- strong problem-solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset and attention to detail
- strong expertise in Autodesk Inventor and Autocad software and engineering analysis tools
- excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
