About the role
We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our dynamic team at Aus Oils Kojonup, based in Kojonup, Western Australia. In this full-time role, you will play a vital part in maintaining and improving the efficiency of our mechanical systems within the crush plant, to ensure the smooth and reliable operation of our production facility. We are a 24/7 operation with a modern automated process control system.
What you'll be doing
- Ensure crush plant machinery is running in accordance with standards to maximise crush efficiencies and quality.
- Operating crush plant machinery and conducting preventative and corrective maintenance procedures
- Testing, measurements, and calibrations on crush plant production equipment as needed to verify performance against standards.
- Assist mechanical engineers in preparing and interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and CAD models for crush plant machinery and equipment upgrades.
- Collaborate with engineers on process improvement projects, including energy efficiency initiatives and equipment optimisation in edible oil production.
- Provide technical input into procurement by assisting with equipment selection, specifications, and evaluation of supplier proposals.
- Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on a wide range of mechanical equipment, such as pumps, compressors, conveyors, and hydraulic systems
- Analyse test data and maintenance records, preparing technical reports and recommending modifications to improve efficiency, safety, and reliability
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, and implement effective solutions to minimise downtime
- Collaborate with the engineering team to design and implement process improvements, optimising the performance of our mechanical systems
- Maintain detailed records of all maintenance activities and equipment performance
- Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Provide technical guidance and support to production staff as needed
- Operate mobile handle equipment skid loader, telehandler and forklift.
What we're looking for
· Relevant tertiary qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Demonstrated experience in an edible oil processing or similar manufacturing environment for a minimum of 3 years
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician or in a similar role
- Strong understanding of mechanical principles, systems, and maintenance procedures
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings, manuals, and specifications
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to think critically and find innovative solutions
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of workmanship
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Ability to work on a rotating shift roster which will require some weekend shift work and to be on call for night shift.
