Job Description
- Part-time 0.4 FTE | Max-term until June 2027
- Based in Dandenong on the lands of the Boon Wurrung Peoples
- $38.83–$42.40 per hour + 12% Super + Generous Salary Packaging benefits of up to $18,550
About the Program
headspace Dandenong is passionate about improving youth mental health outcomes and supporting families through inclusive, culturally sensitive care. headspace is an evidence-based early intervention mental health and wellbeing service for young people aged 12 – 25 years.
Your role, your impact
As a Multicultural Family Peer Worker, you’ll use your lived experience to support families and carers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. You’ll help reduce isolation, provide psychoeducation, and deliver community sessions that foster understanding and reduce stigma around youth mental health.
In this role, you will:
- Bridge cultural understanding within the team to strengthen cultural responsiveness
- Reduce barriers to accessing services by helping families navigate health, education and community systems
- Build engagement with families from diverse cultural backgrounds.
- Deliver and evaluate community education sessions in collaboration with the engagement team.
- Support families and carers through psychoeducation and skills-based programs.
- Collaborate with clinical and school services teams to ensure holistic, family-inclusive practice.
- Promote hope and optimism by sharing your lived experience in a professional and empowering way.
Who we're looking for
We’re seeking someone with:
- Lived experience caring for someone with mental illness.
- Certificate IV in Mental Health, Peer Work or equivalent.
- Experience with group facilitation and community engagement.
- Understanding of trauma-informed care, cultural diversity, and family violence.
- Strong communication, self-awareness, and organisational skills.
- A current driver’s licence.
