POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a full-time Nester to join our engineering and manufacturing team. The role involves creating efficient nesting programs to optimize steel plate usage and minimize waste. You’ll interpret job orders, plan cutting layouts, and work closely with other departments to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.
MAIN DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reporting to the Production Manager, the Nester performs daily duties on the computer preparing jobs digitally working in Prime Cut Software.
- Organizing parts for cutting to optimize the use of full sheets of steel to cut down on waste.
- Ensure compliance with safety and quality assurance standards.
- Assist in materials planning, estimating, and workflow optimisation.
- Contribute to technical documentation and reporting.
- Use software such as AutoCAD, Inventor, PrimeCut, and Bystronic for nesting and part development.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Prime Cut software.
- Strong organizational and time management skills required.
- Attention to detail is critical.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment as the orders are built to order and contain customization based on customer requests.
- Highly organized, self-motivated individual who can work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to communicate effectively both written and verbal.
- Positive attitude.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Diploma of Engineering – Technical or related.
- Experience in manufacturing environment. (advantageous)
