The Opportunity
Manning Hospital is seeking a reliable, mature, and enthusiastic Telephonist to join our Emergency Department’s administrative team. This is a casual opportunity offering overnight shifts in a vital front-line role. As the first point of contact for patients and visitors, you will play a key role in ensuring smooth communication during the most critical hours of hospital operation.This position is ideal for someone who brings calm professionalism, excellent communication skills, and a level-headed approach to sensitive and fast-paced environments.
Step into the Role
- Operate the hospital switchboard, including message delivery and paging services.
- Greet and register patients and visitors entering the Emergency Department.
- Maintain accurate communication records in line with policy.
- Provide clear, timely information to clinical staff to support safe patient care.
- Work cooperatively with administrative and clinical teams across departments.
What You Will Bring
- Must be able to work Night Shifts in a 7-day rotating roster (9pm–7am).
- Communicates clearly and compassionately with people from all walks of life.
- Confident working independently overnight, yet values team collaboration.
- Solid computer and telephony/switchboard skills.
- Remains composed under pressure and handles competing priorities with grace.
- A mature outlook and life experience to handle varied and sensitive interactions.
- Prior experience in a healthcare, customer service, or high-volume call setting (desirable).
