What you'll be doing
To provide secretarial services to the Orthopaedic Department, including Senior Staff Specialists and the Department Head. This includes word processing, electronic ordering, screening telephone calls, making patient appointments, patient billing, facilitation of conference leave, maintenance of office equipment, maintenance of files and the use of various computer software programs. Additional Orthopaedic Departmental activities may be requested as required. Attending subspecialty meetings optimising theatre lists by participation in new billable clinics not covered by the Outpatient department. Facilitating compliance with occupational health and safety procedures including, mandatory radiation safety compliance according to AOA guidelines.
  • Recent secretarial experience
  • Minimum of 2 years administration work experience within a medical environment
  • Demonstrated excellent communication, interpersonal skills and organisational skills.
  • Medical Terminology is desirable
  • Highly experienced in all Microsoft Office programs; including but not restricted to Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Ability to prioritise work and work under broad supervision but also independently
  • Proven ability to use initiative, to work autonomously and the ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Ability to work with confidential and sensitive information.
