The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of the largest providers of homelessness services across the country. Our philosophy is that every person should be afforded dignity and respect and that no one should be without a safe, affordable, and secure home. We provide services and supports to adults, and families with accompanying children in the form of accommodation, case management, assertive outreach, financial assistance, community connection and referral services.
About the role
As an Outreach Case Worker, this is your opportunity to provide assistance and support to the most vulnerable members of the community, primarily those who are experiencing or at risk of experiencing homelessness.
Reporting to the Team Leader - Assertive Outreach, this is a fixed-term, part-time position offering 7.6 hours per week until September 2026.
Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award, Level 5.
How you will make an impact
- Operate within a strengths-based, trauma-informed and person-centred approach, promoting the need for individualised support, self-determination and holistic care.
- To provide support consistent with evidence-based homelessness responses and TSA’s Policies and procedure, including the case management support of individuals and families.
- Build healthy relationships with individuals who are sleeping rough and experiencing homelessness, including knowing individuals by name and understanding their complex needs.
- Undertake risk assessments and needs identification in an outreach setting, utilising approved service tools and documents.
- Advocate and liaise with other agencies and services to assist the individuals with identified needs, including but not limited to, mental health, physical health, income support payments, housing, identification and drug and alcohol dependence.
What you will bring
- Diploma in Community Services or related discipline
- Practical experience in welfare service delivery, as specified in the award description or significant experience of 5 or more years in Homelessness Services
- Current Senior First Aid Certificate.
- Working with Children’s Check
- A National Police check.
- Current driver’s license.
