Primary objective
The Works Controller provides administrative support to the Hospital Engineering team at Palmerston Regional Hospital.
Context statement
The Department of Logistics and Infrastructure Hospital Engineering Services provide 24/7 specialist mechanical, HVAC, electrical,
hydraulic, fire protection and building repairs and maintenance services to Royal Darwin and Palmerston Regional Hospitals
ensuring all aspects of mandatory infrastructure maintenance is carried to comply with all legislative, legal and Australian standards
obligations to support the National Safety and Quality Health Standards (NSQHS) hospital accreditation cycle.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Carry out face to face, telephone, or email reception duties for Engineering Services PRH for all interactions with PRH staff,
contractors and the public.
2. Provide general administrative support to the unit as required.
3. Prepare work request sheets on a maintenance computer system to enable staff and contractors to carry out an efficient service
for Hospital Engineering clients.
4. Accurately register and monitor the incoming contractor invoices into a database spreadsheet to ensure timely processing is
achieved.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Proven experience and sound knowledge of administrative support services.
2. Well-developed oral and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communication style and approach to meet the
needs of diverse audiences.
3. Demonstrated capacity to work with minimal supervision, maintain confidentiality and to be able to respond appropriately in
an emergency situation.
4. High level of accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to identify and rectify errors and prioritise workloads.
5. Proven skills in the use of information technology systems, including word processing, spreadsheets, email applications and
mainframe systems.
6. An ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Operational experience relevant in using MEX or similar building asset management system.
2. Certificate qualification in Business Administration, or other relevant qualification.

This position will interchange with Royal Darwin Hospital Works Controller as required.
